Meta Reality Labs Research (RL-R) brings together a world-class team of researchers, developers, and engineers with the shared goal of developing AR and VR across the spectrum. The charter of the Graphics Research group within RL-R is to make exceptional consumer virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences targeting five to ten years out.

We are developing the future of virtual and augmented reality where we envisioned mobile, lightweight AR/VR devices with very low power consumption. To achieve our vision, we need to be able to generate, transmit and store vast amount of graphics, video, audio and other types of data in an extremely efficient fashion. We are seeking a Research Engineer who specializes in data compression to help us on this journey. This full-time position is responsible for working with researchers to develop graphics compression algorithms such as texture and geometry. You will also work with other research and product teams to help integrate compression solutions into various systems.

Bachelor’s degree in related fields (Signal Processing, Information Theory, Computer Graphics, Machine Learning, etc.).

Experience working with codecs (image, video, texture, mesh, point cloud, etc.).

Proficient in C/C++.

Work with researchers to develop prototypes that advance the state-of-the-art compression technologies for texture, mesh, point cloud and light field.

Work across team boundaries to solve graphics compression problems encountered in both research and product.

Provide research and engineering support to researchers and cross-functional teams.

Additional Requirements(额外要求)

Deep knowledge in image and video codecs.

Experience with network-scalable compression and streaming.

Experience with codec standardization process (MPEG, AOM).
