As a Research Engineer, you will drive cutting edge research and development for our EMG machine learning platform; create new AI models, tools and infrastructure that unlock the capabilities of our technology; productionize our research results, and work with scientists, software engineers, hardware engineers and designers to advance the company’s AI and AR/VR agenda.
Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Electrical and Computer Engineering in the field of computer vision, machine learning, or natural language processing, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.
Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
3+ years of research experience or equivalent graduate research experience in machine learning, deep learning, computer vision and/or 3D graphics, and/or natural language processing.
3+ years of Programming experience in Python and hands-on experience with frameworks such as PyTorch.
Research and develop Deep Learning models at the intersection of EMG signal processing and Computer Vision and/or Natural Language Processing.
Design methods, tools and infrastructure to analyze and leverage rich multimodal data sets.
Collaborate with research scientists to develop innovative deep learning models that define the next generation EMG-based AR/VR interaction techniques.
Work side-by-side with research scientists to integrate core science goals to the deliverables.
Champion and promote good engineering practice on the science team.
Define short and long term research goals, informed by practical engineering concerns.
Help transition and deliver our work from research into product.
Present the outcomes of the research findings as papers in top tier conferences in the area of Natural Language Processing and/or Computer Vision and Graphics.
Proven track record in publishing papers in machine learning, natural language processing and/or computer vision conferences including CVPR, ICCV, ICRA, ECCV, NeurIPS, AAAI, ICLR, SIGGRAPH, ACL, NAACL, EMNLP, EACL, AACL, COLING or similar.
Demonstrated software engineer experience via an internship, work experience, coding competitions, or widely used contributions in open source repositories (e.g. GitHub).
Experience working and communicating cross functionally in a team environment.
Experience working in research environments where rapid iteration and flexibility is prioritized.
Experience with productizing new research results.
Experience with neuroscience, EMG, Brain-Machine-Interfaces, or human-computer-interactions.
