The Meta Spark team, as part of the Meta Reality Labs organization, builds the Augmented Reality (AR) platform enabling experiences across Meta’s family of applications and future AR hardware. Our AR efforts are helping build the bridge to the metaverse for the billions in our Meta community — and we’re just getting started.

We are seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead our Meta Spark Avatars team. This is a newly formed team to accelerate our efforts to give our Meta community the ability to establish a strong sense of identity, expressivity and social presence in the future of metaverse, across our ecosystem. Since we are a platform team, our work here extends across our portfolio of products and devices – from our apps on mobile to Portal to AR Glasses. The ideal candidate for this role is passionate about the metaverse, AR/VR, system design, and building platforms. Experience working with Avatars or digital human representations, 3D creation tools, and/or game engines is a plus.


5+ years of work experience architecting, developing, and launching software products and/or services in AR/VR, real-time immersive 3D products, 3D creation tools, games, films or other related areas

3+ years experience managing and growing software engineers

Proven track record of software development, including shipping one or more products on large code bases that span platforms and tools

Experience starting a team from the ground up, and scaling it significantly

Demonstrated experience working collaboratively in cross-functional teams

Demonstrated knowledge to recruit, nurture, and grow leaders


Build and lead teams designing and delivering on Avatar representations, with high quality, expressivity and social interactivity across devices and use cases, with an eye towards end-to-end functionality.

Manage engineers and help them develop their careers, assigning them to projects tailored to their skill levels, long-term skill development, personalities, and work styles.

Communicate and collaborate effectively with cross-functional software engineering teams.

Champion engineering and operational excellence, establishing metrics and processes for regular assessment and improvement.

Set clear expectations and create a positive work environment based on accountability, in collaboration with the engineering and management teams.

Work closely with dedicated recruiting staff to expand the team, including sourcing candidates, interviewing candidates, participating in conferences/events, and on-boarding new employees.

Proactively develops and/or influences strategic direction impacting the big picture and long term plans.

Effective at partnering and influencing all levels of cross-functional stakeholders including cross-organization leadership.

Additional Requirements(额外要求)

Hands-on experience building Avatars, or digital human representations in social or interactive gaming scenarios

Understanding of 3D Graphics/Programming

Experience with Game engines such as Unreal and Unity

Experience of art tools such as Maya and the Unreal Editor

Experience in technically leading and/or managing teams developing software/products on edge devices (phones, wearables, etc.)

Demonstrated end-to-end ownership and thought leadership across multiple organizations

Experience in highly innovative consumer product categories and brands such as consumer tech and/or AR/VR technologies, fashion, entertainment or culture brands

Experience presenting and pitching to executive leadership
