Meta AR/VR Job | Optical Systems Architect | Oculus

Job(岗位): Optical Systems Architect | Oculus

Type(岗位类型): Research

Citys(岗位城市): Redmond, WA

Date(发布日期): 2022-3-23

Summary(岗位介绍)

As a member of the Optics and Display Research (O&DR) organization at Reality Labs, you will be responsible for inventing and leading new display/optics systems that aim at delivering transformative experiences in Meta’s AR/VR products. You will join an agile team that is laser-focused on incubating new optical architectures based on nanotechnologies and establishing novel process capabilities with the support of internal prototyping teams and external partners. We are seeking an Optical Systems Architect experienced with early technology paths, someone who is able to work collaboratively across both deep and broad cross-functional teams to manage system maturation, requirements, and respective risks. And who can focus on execution while providing clear and effective communication, removing barriers across teams.

Qualifications(岗位要求)

PhD or equivalent experience in Optical Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

6+ years of experience in developing systems with multi-function/multi-disciplinary threads.

6+ years experience and knowledge of optics in one or more of the following: systems design and integration, imaging, illumination, radiometry and photometry, physical and geometric optics, statistics, and polarization.

Experience in optical and sensor system design maturation, including requirement development from physical based modeling, and knowledge of fabrication/vendor processes.

Proficient with FDTD simulation software such as Lumerical and Meep, and Ray Optics modeling software such as Zemax, LightTools, or FRED.

Experience in one or more system optimization and analysis tools, such as MATLAB, Python, C++, or Java.

Description(岗位职责)

Develop new concepts, technologies, and architectures for Near-Eye Display (NED).

Deliver high-level FDTD optimization of new Nanooptics devices and Ray-Optics models of larger sub-systems.

Define sub-system requirements, then deliver AR/VR hardware, software, and calibration that meets specifications. This may include: hardware (optics, electronics, mechanics, silicon, sensor, data-communication), software (computer vision algorithms, calibration, modeling, analysis), and performance analysis.

Drive optical system requirements definitions. Flow down optical system requirements to sub-system and component level. Resolve requirements discrepancies at different levels.

Drive design verification, testing, and troubleshooting processes to correlate optical modeling with metrology, and between sub-system performance and system performance.

Support Technical Program Managers in evaluation, validation, and delivery to specs by metrology, user, and safety studies.

Additional Requirements(额外要求)

10+ years of experience in research or advanced optics development.

Experience with technology transfer from research to product organizations.

Experience with design/manufacturing of small form-factor imaging and projection systems.

Process development experience for optical parts, sensors, computer vision, software and hardware integration.

Experience in opto-mechanical integration and system design.

6+ years of experience working in the field of AR/VR.

Track record of leading technologies from inception to productization.

Expertise in nanooptics design.

Knowledge on all other system domains, such as electronics, integration, packaging, system performance roll-up, and visual perception.
