At Reality Labs, our goal is to explore, innovate and design novel interfaces and hardware subsystems for the next generation of virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences. The AR Input & Interactions team, which grew out of the acquisition of CTRL-labs in 2019, is developing multimodal input and interaction techniques based on electromyography (EMG) and other sensors. We build hardware, software, and interactions which offer users unparalleled control and expressiveness in AR/VR.

We are looking for a candidate with experience in Human-Computer Interaction with a particular focus on the text entry problem. An ideal candidate has experience with related problems such as mobile keyboards, text input on smart watches and AR/VR systems. An understanding of language modeling, linguistics and speech recognition systems is a plus. Research scientists are also expected to be strong hands-on builders.

The chosen candidate will work with a diverse and highly interdisciplinary team of researchers and engineers and will have access to cutting edge technology, resources, and testing facilities.


Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a PhD degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.

Experience working independently to design, execute, interpret, and present interactions research.

Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.

Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.


Plan and execute cutting-edge research of forward-looking text input and language interactions that are enabled by a unique constellation of inputs including neuromotor (EMG) sensors.

Collaborate with neuroscientists and machine learning experts to unlock and refine the underlying recognition systems.

Create prototypes which explore text and language interfaces in a variety of environments and situations.

Measure and evaluate the performance and qualities of promising interactions.

Additional Requirements(额外要求)

Experience with text entry systems on mobile, smart watches, AR/VR systems or other novel computing environments.

Familiarity with speech recognition systems and language models.

Experience working with novel/prototype hardware, sensors, or devices.

Experience with gestural or wearable computing interfaces.

Familiarity with machine learning algorithms.

Familiarity with real-time signal processing (filtering, debouncing, etc.).

Technical and non-technical communication skills.

Proven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by grants, fellowships, patents, as well as first-authored publications at leading workshops or conferences such as UIST, CHI, Ubicomp, 3DUI, or SIGGRAPH.

Experience working and communicating cross functionally in a team environment.
