Summary（岗位介绍）
As an Optical Scientist at Meta, you will take a critical role in developing AR/VR systems. You will focus on developing advanced optical imaging and sensing systems for near eye displays, and will become part of a team exploring new concepts through design and fast iterative prototyping. A wide range of approaches will be explored combining electrical, mechanical, and optical techniques. We are looking for a hands-on engineer with a productive mindset who can apply their optics expertise to solve problems in creative, insightful ways. Our ideal candidate has a strong background in optical design, optical instrumentation, sensing and detection, and/or testing and metrology.
Qualifications（岗位要求）
Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.
Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a PhD degree in Optics, Physics, Robotics, Applied Physics, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.
Experience with optical design software, Code V or ZEMAX, FRED or LightTools.
Experience with optical instrumentation, emphasizing modeling and hardware prototyping.
Experience with imaging or lens design.
Experience with optics technologies with one or more of the following: optical design, illumination, interferometry, physical optics, stray light analysis, radiometry, or photometry.
Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
Description（岗位职责）
Collaborate in a team environment across a diverse set of disciplines including Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, and Optics
Collaborate with the larger RL team and provide creative leadership on computational display, imaging, and sensing technologies
Design and implement metrology systems for optical characterization
Develop test strategies for optical sensing systems
Coordinate with vendors to prototype lens and optical designs
Lead hardware calibration efforts of optical systems in collaboration with cross-functional partners
Model optical transmission, coating performance, and stray light analysis of both individual components, optical assemblies, and full optical systems using a combination of sequential and non-sequential methods
Model, analyze, and develop tolerances for optical distortions in both static and dynamic systems
Publish research results in top-tier journals and at leading international conferences
Additional Requirements（额外要求）
Experience working and communicating cross-functionally in a team environment.
3+ years experience in optical design or optical technology development.
Experience with physical optics and/or FDTD/RCWA simulation.
Experience with diffractive optics.
Experience with optical characterization of materials and devices.
Experience with vision science and perception.
Proven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by product launches, grants, fellowships, patents, as well as first-authored publications at top-tier journals or leading conferences.
