At Reality Labs (RL), our goal is to explore, innovate and design novel interfaces and hardware subsystems for the next generation of virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences to make it easier for people to remain connected.
Our team is responsible for building AR products, while also rapidly iterating on high-fidelity prototypes and development platforms that bring new ideas to life. As a Manager of Technical Program Managers, you will lead, manage, and inspire teams to deliver a next-generation platform for AR/VR products. We are looking for a skilled and motivated Manager to lead our team, whose mission is to plan, integrate and validate production operating system and firmware for future consumer VR and AR devices. We are specifically looking for a candidate with a broad set of experiences, including embedded system knowledge, a passion for working on new hardware, and strong leadership skills.
As the TPM Manager, AR/VR Product Software Firmware in Reality Labs, you will be managing and growing an existing team of TPMs responsible for integrating the hardware interface layers of software on a multi-core SoC. This includes the core operating system, RTOS, Si drivers, and platform libraries for Computer Vision and Machine Learning technology into new AR/VR products. The technology will enable all-day wearable always-on XR devices to have spatially aware, contextual, and collaborative XR experiences that are immersive and integrated into the physical world.
The right candidate will possess a strong technical program management background, have experience in building embedded system platforms & tooling, will have demonstrated experience leading large projects across multiple software teams, as well as building and growing teams. You will have a well-rounded technical background. You must be able to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial environment, and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities. This means you are not only able to manage the team, develop and drive high-level strategic initiatives, but can also roll up your sleeves, dig in and get the job done.
Qualifications（岗位要求）
7+ years experience in technical program management.
2+ years experience with building and managing a team of Technical Program Managers.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience growing and leading high-performance cross-functional teams.
Communication and interpersonal experience, including relationship building and collaboration within a cross-functional team.
Knowledge of software development processes and best practices.
Description（岗位职责）
Responsible for people management of an organization – hiring, developing and implementing organizational structure, delivering performance reviews, providing continual feedback, coaching and career growth for direct reports.
Work with engineering and product management leadership to define and revise the long-term strategy for the AR software organization.
Work with the team to develop end-to-end project plans, influence teams to deliver against them, and keep the org and leadership informed on progress.
Maintain the roadmap and status towards KPIs for operating system and firmware feature enablement.
Coordinate the embedded software development and HW Bring-up activities.
Work with engineering and software integration teams to validate new hardware in manufacturing facilities and deliver software for mass production.
Perform risk management and change management on projects.
Drive internal process improvements across multiple teams and functions.
Work with teams to set milestones, communicate project statuses, and identify/address potential setbacks.
Work with engineering to ensure what we build has the right balance of cost vs. benefit, and focuses on addressing the highest priority partner team and customer needs.
Additional Requirements（额外要求）
Project Management Certification (PMP) or Six Sigma.
Experience working with a cross-disciplinary team of software engineers and hardware engineers.
Experience building SW platforms and tooling.
Experience with RTOS, pre-silicon software validation, machine learning, and manufacturing validation.
Experience building and launching consumer electronic devices utilizing Linux, Android, iOS or other operating system environments.
Experience transitioning technology from R&D lab environments into commercial products.
Strong understanding of coaching and mentoring in a flexible environment.
