At Reality Labs Research (RL-R), our goal is to explore, innovate and design novel interfaces and hardware subsystems for the next generation of virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences.
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Soft Haptic Displays Researcher to join our team, whose mission is to work with a broad range of multidisciplinary research to advance the state of the art for wearable interaction devices. We are specifically looking for a candidate with a broad knowledge in softgoods construction, designing and controlling soft actuators and sensors for wearable soft robotic/haptic systems, and who can work with a team of researchers who are working in haptic rendering techniques, psychophysics, and AR/VR specific human-computer-interaction paradigms. More broadly, the chosen candidate will work with a diverse and highly interdisciplinary team of researchers and engineers and will have access to cutting edge technology, resources, and testing facilities.
Qualifications(岗位要求)
Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.
Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a PhD degree in Mechanical or Electrical engineering, Computer Science, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.
4+ years experience with novel materials and approaches to softgoods construction such as textiles and silicones.
3+ years knowledge in robotic/haptic hardware design, modeling, control, or related areas.
Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
Description(岗位职责)
Frame, scope, plan, and execute the modeling and prototyping of novel soft and wearable haptic displays for interaction in AR/VR.
Partner with research, hardware engineering, and other roles to explore and create material, component, system, and subsystems to enable high-value wearable and soft haptic display prototypes and test critical hypotheses.
Connect and drive collaborations with academic and industry labs to advance research in relevant areas.
Thrive in a dynamic, ambiguous, and cross-disciplinary environment.
Additional Requirements(额外要求)
Experience with soft pneumatic or hydraulic systems.
Knowledge of data acquisition and processing, closed-loop control of actuators, or related areas.
Understanding of novel haptic rendering techniques.
Experience in psychophysics and evaluation of user studies.
Knowledge of novel AR/VR specific human-computer-interaction paradigms.
Working and communicating cross-functionally in a team environment.
Proven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by grants, fellowships, patents, as well as first-authored publications at leading workshops or conferences.
