The Meta’s Reality Labs (RL) organization is looking for a skilled and motivated Health Physicist with specialization in non-ionizing radiation to join our team. The role will primarily support the RL Radiation and Laser Safety Team as part of the Team Ops organization within RL. The Health Physicist will lead area safety assessments, review laboratory design specifications, evaluate radiation equipment purchases and review R&D experiments to ensure safety and compliance needs. In addition to supporting the radiation and laser safety team, this role also offers the opportunity to support multiple Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) programs, product development and develop research initiatives related to the safe use of laser and radiation emitting products. The chosen candidate will work with a diverse and highly interdisciplinary team of researchers and engineers and will have access to cutting edge technology, resources, and testing facilities.
Qualifications(岗位要求)
Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Optical Sciences or Engineering, Health Physics, Nuclear Engineering, Nuclear Physics or a related STEM discipline
Familiarity with multiple types of radiation sources including x-ray generating machines, lasers and LEDs
Experience in safety work associated with laser and LEDs and experience with the IEC 60825, IEC 62471 and ANSI Z136 series of safety standards
Experience in a technical/engineering role which focused on field testing, failure analysis, reliability, or equivalent
A minimum of four years professional experience in radiation and laser applications may be substituted in lieu of degree
Description(岗位职责)
Provide accurate calculations, simulations and/or measurements relevant to optical, electromagnetic field (EMF), and ionizing radiation safety and compliance needs
Lead local hardware and EHS teams in reviewing operations and facilities for radiation safety compliance as relevant to the State of Washington, Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and ANSI Z136.1 operational standards encompassing both non-ionizing and ionizing radiation sources
Accurately predict how radiation (primarily from laser and LEDs) emitting components could be used and could be misused, and identifying safety-critical components, systems, and manufacturing steps associated to ensure safety with those predictions
Lead safety analysis, development of protective measures, applying corrective actions, investigations and provide communication to stakeholders
Support all radiation emitting applications and projects as needed
Additional Requirements(额外要求)
Proficiency in a programming language and experience stimulating radiation and laser exposure applications
Proficiency with FDA/CDRH Federal Laser Product Performance Standard and IEC 60825-1 product compliance
Firm understanding of performing laser calculations (Maximum Permissible Exposure, Nominal Ocular Hazard Distance, Nominal Hazard Zone) for various laser types and configurations
Experience leading FMEA and Fault Tree Analysis
Outstanding communication, report and presentation skills
