At Reality Labs Research (RLR), our goal is to explore, innovate and design novel interfaces and hardware subsystems of virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences. We are looking for a skilled and motivated researcher to join our team, whose mission is to create and apply scientific knowledge about the perceptual system to improve human experiences in the augmented world. We are specifically looking for a candidate with experience in executing research with a focus on evaluating the quality of avatar-mediated communication. The successful candidate will work with a team of researchers and engineers who are working on avatar-mediated communication to achieve photorealistic face-to-face communication in future AR and VR devices. More broadly, the chosen candidate will work with a diverse and highly interdisciplinary team of hardware and software engineers, and researchers of computer vision, computer graphics, ML and other disciplines. They also will have access to cutting edge technology, resources, and testing facilities.
Qualifications（岗位要求）
PhD degree in the field of perception, cognitive psychology, or related area.
Experience reporting research findings with stakeholders through effective communication and collaboration.
Experience with interdisciplinary research that spans perceptual research and engineering.
Description（岗位职责）
Design, plan and execute perceptual studies to evaluate the quality of novel technology in the context of avatar-mediated communication.
Define quality standards for novel avatar-related technologies, as well as reusable benchmarking to enable continuous evaluation.
Collaborate with cross-functional partners to design novel tooling to enable evaluation of avatar-mediated communication.
Coordinate a team of research assistants to enable the continuous evaluation of the technology.
Communicate results to relevant teams to influence improvements to the technology being developed.
Additional Requirements（额外要求）
PhD and/or postdoctoral assignment in the field of facial expression perception science.
Track record of projects showcasing the study of human facial expressions.
