On the Reality Labs team, we are inventing the future. We are a team of Engineers, Designers and Researchers creating human-computer interaction products. As a UX Researcher on the Facebook Reality Labs team, you will plan, execute, and evangelize user-focused research that contributes to the strategy, product definition, and design of AR/VR technologies and intelligent assistant voice-interfaces.

Our Reality Labs Home and Work team seeks an experienced UX researcher with great communication and people skills to inform the creation of next-generation Portal for Work experiences.


BA or Master in relevant Human Factors and behavioural research areas such as environmental psychology, cognitive science, HCI, perceptual psychology, sociology and related fields / equivalent relevant work experience

2 or more years of experience with quantitative research or qualitative research in a product environment

Candidates will demonstrate a rigorous approach to qualitative and quantitative UX research methods and a passion for the future of consumer technology

Candidates will demonstrate the knowledge and skills to think tactically and strategically about human context, the built environment and the unmet and often previously unarticulated user needs and aspirations that will shape the future of hybrid, remote and in-office work

Candidates will need to demonstrate a history of working with internal and external partners to translate research into meaningful experiences, use cases and measurable requirements to shape Portal for Work devices

Experience combining qualitative and quantitative user data into cohesive insights

Experience combining qualitative and quantitative user data into cohesive insights

Experience working with stationary, portable and set top box devices or other physical devices

Experience with environmental factor assessment

Experience working with partners to translate researching findings into product concepts, use cases and requirements for new devices, features and capabilities

Experience with mapping research findings to the broader state of the art to produce credible research narratives

Experience in both qualitative research design and experimental design

Light experience with one or more statistical software packages (SPSS, R, etc.)


Work closely with science and product teams to define the right research questions and develop strategic research roadmaps for the short and long term

Conduct research using a wide variety of qualitative and some quantitative methods to create actionable insights across the product development lifecycle, including concept definition, human factors evaluation and testing of designs and early prototypes, as well as UX evaluation and testing of more mature prototypes

Work closely with partners (hardware engineering, industrial design, product management, privacy & security, and more) to ensure the product team is moving forward with a clear understanding of the user problem space

Synthesize insights in a compelling, creative, and actionable way that clearly articulates the underlying user issues

Effectively communicate with and present findings to a variety of audiences from product teams to executive leadership

Develop design frameworks and experience metrics to ensure quality and benchmarking of future Portal products and competitor offerings. Share best practices & new techniques with the broader UX Research team

Work collaboratively with other researchers on research methods and priorities

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in relevant Human Factors and behavioral research areas such as environmental psychology, cognitive science, HCI, industrial engineering, biomedical engineering, perceptual psychology, kinematics & biomechanics, sociology or related fields
