Meta AR/VR Job | Director, AR Product Quality Engineering

We are looking for a talented Product Quality Engineering Director to help us build next generation Augmented Reality products. The Director of AR Product Quality will lead a world class team of AR PQE’s through development, validation and manufacture of state-of-the-art consumer electronics. You will use your expertise in product quality and consumer electronics manufacturing to deliver products that consistently exceed customer’s quality expectations. You will work closely with cross functional partners to manage all quality issues at contract manufacturer’s factories, implement world class quality control systems, and deliver best-in-class quality products for our customers. Ideal candidates are those with experience in managing through the entire product lifecycle, from early concept stages through design, development, validation, and mass production. Candidates must have strong interpersonal and communication skills along with a comprehensive understanding of cross-functional interconnectedness and deliverables to enable the realization of complex consumer-electronics products. Candidates must have keen focus on driving business results, ability to work in ambiguous/less-defined environments, and a strong willingness to collaborate and optimize overall business objectives.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Systems engineering or equivalent experience.
Minimum 10 years hands-on experience in manufacturing quality. Including experience with new product development from cradle to grave in a fast-paced and technically demanding industry, such as consumer electronics.
Minimum 5 years of relevant management experience.
Familiar with key quality tools and practices, such as: PQP, IQC, IPQC, OQC, FMEA, MSA, PPAP, SPC and sampling plan definition.
Experience cross-functional collaboration and problem-solving skills.
Lead a team of high performing AR PQEs. Grow the team by hiring diverse and highly qualified PQEs. Strengthen the team through mentoring and development of skills, tools and processes.
Collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners, internal and external. Communicate clearly with good structure and logic.
Work together with key partners to solve difficult technical problems using effective problem solving tools, finding flexible and innovative solutions.
Provide detailed data and analysis around dimensional, cosmetic and functional performance throughout the iterative development cycles.
Implement quality systems to support development and manufacture of next generation AR products that utilize best practices. Quality plan definition, alignment and execution for the manufacturer which includes PFMEA, control plan, CTQ processes, correlated inspection and tester correlation between incoming and outgoing quality, ongoing reliability testing and monitoring plan, quality reporting, traceability etc.
May require frequent overseas travel (up to 30%).
Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Systems engineering or equivalent experience.
Certified Quality Engineer or 6 Sigma black belt.
Experience with products that meet Telecom Carrier and or FDA quality requirements.
