The Portal team is building products that make it easier for people to connect with the ones they love most. We are a team of world-class experts developing and shipping products at the intersection of hardware, software, and content.
The Portal Systems Engineering team is responsible for driving product/platform frameworks and decisions across a set of multi-disciplinary groups including Product Management, Silicon, Software/AI/ML, Product Design, System Integration, Audio, Wireless, and Cameras/Sensors. The team collaborates with these partners to evaluate trade-offs in technologies, experiences, cost, features, and product parameters to arrive at optimized product solutions. These architectures are captured with documentation that can then be referenced by all the product engineering functions and ultimately validated against.
The ideal candidate for this role should be able to work through problems in a variety of domains with technical depth and be familiar with architectures in computer vision, machine learning, audio/speech processing, silicon, image/video processing, etc. You must be able to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial environment, and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities. This means you are not only able to develop and drive high-level strategic initiatives, but can also roll up your sleeves, dig in and get the job done. As the Leader for Systems Engineering, you will anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make trade-offs, and balance the business needs versus technical constraints all while managing a technical team.
In addition, this team is tasked with taking a long-term, strategic view of platform evolution and working with their partner organizations to establish a roadmap of technologies and silicon that support that evolution.
Qualifications（岗位要求）
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
8+ years of experience in engineering management.
Experience managing efforts within Systems Engineering and Architecture domain with emphasis on Audio, Display, Camera, Wireless, AI/ML and SoC/Memory.
Experience taking projects and break them down into pieces, develop specifications, then deliver them in a manner that can be understood by development teams and management.
Experience in delivery and commercialization of consumer electronic devices (e.g. cell phones, smart home etc.).
Description（岗位职责）
Collecting business and systems requirements from internal and external customers.
Drafting architecture, specifications, driving new technology evaluation and introduction.
Establishing strategic priorities for the team and products with cross-functional peers.
Making appropriate trade-offs to optimize time-to-market, clearly communicate goals, roles, responsibilities, and desired outcomes to internal cross-functional and remote project teams.
Building relationships with key suppliers and influencing their roadmaps.
Ensuring coordinated platform work across other Facebook hardware efforts.
Putting in place processes, tools and simulation capabilities to scale the team’s work.

Track record for being detail-oriented with a demonstrated experience to self-motivate and follow through on projects.
Collaboration skills, driven by working closely with other Engineering, Product Management, Program Management, and Supply Chain teams.
Experience working with hardware suppliers.
Experience managing new technologies.
