Reality Labs (RL) is a world leader in the design of virtual reality systems. We are currently seeking an innovative research intern with a strong background in apparel design and human factors evaluation at our research location in Redmond, WA. This role will focus on the creation and evaluation of patterns for smart gloves, with the goal of evaluating the user experience of different pattern making strategies. In particular, we welcome PhD students in apparel design, soft goods design, mechanical engineering or similar fields. Our internships are sixteen (16) to twenty-four (24) weeks long and we have various start dates throughout the year.
Qualifications(岗位要求)
Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a PhD degree in the field of apparel design, soft goods design, mechanical engineering, or related.
Interpersonal experience: cross-group and cross-culture collaboration.
1+ years experience in building functional textiles and garments or other prototypes from soft materials.
1+ years experience with mechanical characterization of textiles or other soft materials.
Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
Description(岗位职责)
Research, development, prototyping and testing of patterns for functional garments.
Develop an experimental plan to evaluate wearability, comfort, fit, and encumbrance of various soft goods techniques for fabricating gloves.
Collaborate with the larger research team, present and share results with key stakeholders.
The type of work should be publishable research results in top-tier journals and at leading international conferences in apparel design, soft goods design, or mechanical engineering.
Additional Requirements(额外要求)
Experience with pattern making for gloves.
Experience in development and evaluation of functional garments and textiles.
Experience evaluating wearability and encumbrance effects of functional garments.
Proven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by first-authored publications.
Intent to return to degree-program after the completion of the internship/co-op.
